Allina Hospitals & Clinics plans a bond issue of up to $400 million to refinance debt and pay for construction projects. The bonds, offered in coming weeks through the city of Minneapolis and the St. Paul Housing and Redevelopment Authority, will refinance up to $350 million in debt, more than half of Minneapolis-based Allina's bond indebtedness. Adventist HealthCare and Holy Cross Hospital have filed their final applications to build hospitals in northern Montgomery County, Md. The health care providers each filed a modified application for their respective proposed hospitals with the Maryland Health Care Commission, clearing the way for the final stages of the review process to begin, said Pamela Barclay, director of the commission's Center for Hospital Services. In March 2007, a tornado came through Southwest Georgia, effectively destroying Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus, Ga. Phoebe Putney Health System has come one step closer to rectifying that problem. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, a department of national Homeland Security, has given Phoebe clearance to begin construction of Phoebe Sumter Medical Center on a 45-acre parcel in Americus.
